It’s been a while that I posted updates on my Mom’s home in the wake of Hurricane Sandy.
A few weeks has passed since she moved back in her home. It’s not completed yet, but it’s close to it.
Since she lives in an area that has been hit pretty hard, you know there are people who are looking to take advantage of the situation (and the fact that many home owners are not at home).
These first set of pictures were taken a few weeks back when they were stripping up the floors in my mom’s home.
These last set of pictures were taken more recently, this weekend. The walls are up and they are getting pretty to be painted.
Even though my Mom’s home has a way to go, it’s definitely getting there. It looks nothing like it did before when only the metal beans were exposed.
Its coming together slowly but surely and thats good news. Hopefully it will be back to a home by the end of winter just in time for spring.
Yup, it’s moving alright. We’re hoping that all should be wrapped up by the end of the month or next month. But we will be happy as long as it gets done.
So happy things are coming along for your mom.
Thank you Kim.
Hi Kalley, you know this is my first hearing of this so let me acknowledge your misfortune but it’s a blessing that she can recover from that loss. It seems to be coming together. I’ll be praying for the greedy ppl that take advantage of situations like this.
Thank you Joi. You’re right it is coming along. We are very thankful that she can recover from this, and my dad made sure he had flood insurance before he passed away. There are a lot of people in the area without insurance.
Yes, your Father was very responsible. It is so unfortunate when ppl are unprepared for disaster. We had a fire at the house I grew up in this weekend and luckily the tenant and her family got out safely, but I’ve known people to lose everything to disaster. I’ll post about it later but you all are indeed blessed.
thanks for the update. here’s hoping the progress is swift so that things can get back to normal or a new normal anyway.
Thank Cam.
I like the format of how you showed the progress – I’m hoping they keep up the good work and get things back to normal as much as possible for your mom.
Thank you Quiana, we’re hoping for the best for her. I know we are all looking for this ordeal to be resolved.
Glad to see things are coming along, everytime I see coney island on the news regarding Sandy I think about you and your family. Did they do the insulation when they did the walls over?
I am happy to say that they did it a lot better than when the house was first built. All these years we were wondering why there a draft downstairs. Now we know.
As for Coney Island, they need a lot of help and prayers. It was so sad driving through that neighborhood during the holidays and seen people with Santa Claus hats waiting online for food from FEMA.
There are virtually no businesses open in the neighborhood to buy food from.
Good to see your family is getting their home back together.
