Sunday Prayer for Peace

Have you turned on the news lately, and felt like there was just no peace?  I’ve heard through the inter web that it looks like we’re headed (or in) World War III.  Now, that could be an ever exaggeration–to us.  However, I cannot imagine what it’s like for people to live in conflict areas.  To them, this is no imagination at all.  What we can gather, is that there is a lack of peace in our world.  In the United States, we have unrest and protests.  Meanwhile, in Syria and Iraq we have militant forces destroying the quality of life.  Finally, the conflict of Israel and the Gaza Strip, we have two groups constantly fighting and shelling out rockets in each other’s direction. Now, every nation is going to have their own problems–we get that.  But there is something to note when so much is happening around us  that it will affect the locations that we go, or even what words to say.   No wonder someone can feel like it’s a global war happening!  This Sunday, I hope that you join me in my prayer for peace. It is obvious that we as a Nation, as a Society, and as members of this world in this very moment need it.     Dear Lord, There has been so much going on in the news lately.  Locally and internationally, that it leaves many of us confused, some angry and others bitter.  We ask Lord that you send down your Holy Spirit and touch people’s hearts and minds so that there will be peace among each other. We pray for...

LTML 35: The Reader

Our days are usually a grind.  We wake up, pray, wash up, brush our teeth, pray, eat our breakfast, clean up, and then start our lessons. We grind daily to the point that there are days when I cannot step back and enjoy the fruit of our labor. Until a few days ago, I happen upon this in the living room.     I was so blessed to capture this moment of Zee reading her book out loud!   We started our reading exercises at the end of Pre-K. She knew her letters, recognized site words, and understood sound blending.   Still I didn’t want to push her.  I wanted her to come into reading on her own, like she did when she learned how to walk.   In the spring we stepped back for vacation and started again in July. That break was the glue that she needed to put everything together!   Everything just clicked and she took off reading at lightning pace.   I would love to take the credit for her learning how to read, but it was through the grace of God that she is learning and it is her practicing that gets her through every lesson.  My my role was just to guide her.  Not push her beyond her what she could handle, but challenge her, and nurture her.  On days that were too hard for her, I gave her what encouragement that I could.  But all the sweet words mean nothing if she didn’t internalize them. Our words have the power to help our children realize everything that they are. Click To Tweet I am...

LTML34: Making New Foods

The past few weeks, I have put my extra energy to good use in the kitchen.  My baby boy is getting older, and I have noticed that his tastes has changed a lot too! I have mentioned before that he was a picky eater, so I wanted to know more about why toddlers are picky, and what can I do that will maximize the food that he eats without all the pickiness.  Well I did manage to find the information that I was looking for, and I will give you a full post on that in the upcoming weeks. Now that I have officially diverted myself *ahem,* I have had some extra free time that I have put to use in the kitchen.  Mostly to challenge myself, but also to find a way to have fun night with the family without paying takeout prices.   Challenge yourself to make your favorite dishes without paying the takeout prices. Click To Tweet Pizza in my home is a huge treat.  We buy it now and then and it’s gobbled up quickly.  But that’s expected because it’s pizza!  The only thing that I didn’t like about pizza was that there is hardly any fiber in it, and you have to be creative to keep it healthy.   So, with my trusty bread maker, I managed to make a robust (with herbs) pizza! This is not a recipe, since I seriously forgot how to make dough by hand (I don’t like my hands getting sticky O.o) but if you are interested in the recipe for this I will be more than glad to share!...
