Life Through My Lens Thursday– Week 4

Life Through My Lens Thursday– Week 4

It’s been cold for the past several days. ¬†Not freeze my butt off cold (well I wouldn’t know that, since most of the days are spent in doors cleaning and running after a 1 and 4 year old) but it has been cold! As usual, I woke Linus up my usual time but he just wasn’t interested! I told him it was time to get up and head out, but all he could do is wrap something warm around him. I figure that he was feeling under the weather, but when I said let’s just take a bath, he was ready to go… I guess for now we’ll just take it easy, and enjoy what little sun we have ūüôā This week, I took it a bit easy, I wanted to play with him in front of light. ¬†So I positioned him in front of my window and I wanted to go for a bright look. ¬†Instead of balancing the exposure, I over exposed it to have a brighter feel to it. ¬†I’m wondering what other circumstances this would be good for? So what do you think?...

Life Through My Lens Thursday– Week 3

This week, I decided to try my hand at textures. I’ve read somewhere, that when working with Black and White photography, we have to be more aware of contrast, and texture. ¬†Since these elements really pop when taking pictures. ¬†Also, when trying to work with contrast or texture, it is really not affected by the time of day that you shoot the picture! I have this very pretty wicker draw set in my bedroom, and I’ve been picturing all week how to capture the texture and incorporate Linus. I like how the texture came out, and I know that with practice, the surface would look awesome in black and white. ¬†I don’t think I’m done with the idea of texture yet, so I’m going to practice more with it, and see how Linus feels with both soft and hard textures. (Poor Linus–he doesn’t even have a blanket!) So let me know what you think!       I’m still intrigued by it, so I might try something with different textures next week. Until next week!  ...
Life Through My Lens Thursday– Week2: Closeup

Life Through My Lens Thursday– Week2: Closeup

Hey everyone! We are finally passed the hump day and that means it’s picture time for me on my blog! First of all, I finally got my Tumblr blog setup so I can be found here. Follow me on Tumblr and see what pictures I capture and share. This week I focused on Closeup. It was a bit of a stretch for me since I felt I couldn’t get as close to my object that I wanted to. But I managed to take a few shots and I’m sharing with you my favorites. This second one reminds me of a sonogram. ¬†Crazy, right? I may come back to this Closeup idea later on, after I think about it a bit more and practice with the right distance with my kit lens. Also, I have to get myself out of Black and White mode! I love Black and White photos, the darker the better for me! I’m going to see if I can bring myself to do some color! Next week I think I may focus on textures. Feel free to join me in this challenge. You don’t have to go by my themes, you can try something completely new! Don’t let the camera stop you! On Sunday I posted this picture and it was taken with my iPhone 3GS. ūüôā Do you have a close up image you want to share? ¬†Share it on my Facebook page if you¬†don’t want to blog about it. ¬†How about tweet it at #LTMLT.  ...
Life Through My Lens Thursday — Week 1

Life Through My Lens Thursday — Week 1

Remember when I said that I was going to challenge myself with Photography.. well… I’m going to do it! There are so many challenges out there, and so many prompts out there, that I decided to do a merger of some of them into something all my own! So my photography challenge focuses on one object and to photography that different ways…or themes. Week 1–One Object Introduction Let me introduce to you my subject:   We know him as Linus from Peanuts–Snoopy and Friends. ¬†For the this whole year, we are going to see him from different point of views and in different locations. Why did I pick one subject? I wanted to be able to already know “what” I was going to shoot. ¬†Also, I wanted to see how far I can stretch my ability to stretch the “how.” ¬†Since I am a novice when it comes down to photography, this gives me a chance to focus on technique as well as throw my (and Linus’) personality in the picture. There are tons of challenges that my fellow bloggers are doing out there as well, so I’m sure I will be joining in on their challenge as well as mine. ūüôā What I like about this, is that LaShawn has given me such a great suggestion to post some pictures to a Tumblr blog so that I don’t bombard you with my challenges. ¬†I think that was such a great suggestion, that I’m going to get working on a Tumblr blog for some of my photography. ¬†Thank you so much LaShawn! (Oh and if don’t know, she also...

Simplicity by Man

I’ve been sick. Correction, we’ve been sick so far the past 2 weeks. ¬†Coughing so bad that the whole body aches, so I hope this post makes some sense. The first person who came down with the virus was my daughter, and it was one day right after the BBQ on Memorial Day. ¬†The next person to come down with it was my 6-month old. ¬†Followed by myself, and then my mother. So while we recover over here, and hopefully for the last week of sickness, I want to share with you one of my favorite photos.   I was in the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens, and was headed to a new area that I haven’t seen before–a herb garden. ¬† But on the way they had a water fountain wall. ¬†This fountain caught my attention because there was a repeating pattern that was man-made in the middle of a garden with flowers of natural repeating patterns. ¬†I just thought it was really interesting for the simple yet beautiful architecture. I hope everyone has a good weekend....
